Development
Wild About Britain's reference section is a free encyclopedia of British wildlife, the environment and the great outdoors.
As a charity, contributors are Wild About Britain's most valuable asset, and the driving force behind the development of the community. We currently need lots of volunteers to help develop the website. If you an spare anything from just a few minutes to a few hours each week, here are lots of ways that you can get involved.
- Add an image to a reference page
- Add content to a reference page
- Add a wild place
- Help create an e-book
Development FAQs
Who creates the content?
All members have access to add/edit content by simply clicking on the 'edit' tab. This means that any tne page may have been created by many members.
How can I add/edit content?
Simply click on the 'edit' tab at the top of any page in the reference section, make changes in the various text boxes, then click on the 'submit' button at the bottom of the page.
How do you know if the information is correct?
We rely on the knowledge of all our members to help check and edit mistakes or errors on our pages, so the accuracy of the information continually develops.
How do you protect pages from being ruined?
We store every revision of every page. As soon as we identify that a page has been defaced we can simply roll it back to an earlier revision, and remove editing permissions from the member who changed the content.
Can I use information from somewhere else?
Facts can't be copyrighted, so you're OK to use them. All other content should be in your own words.
